The "Unofficial Holland America Line" site is dedicated to the love of Ocean Liners and notably, the 135 year history of the Holland America Line.

The historic data from the inception of the Line in 1872 until the present is richly illustrated with articles, photos and postcards of ships, past and present from different sources accross the world with credit to the different sources if known.

A great many sources have contributed to this site and though there are too many to mention, one should be highlighted. The original author of this site is Hans Segboer, a valued colleague and fellow collector of the history of the Holland America Line. Without his years of dedication to originate and maintain this site, it would not exist. As a community of Holland America Line historians and collectors We acknowledge him with deep gratitude.

newsflash May 20, 2008

Latest find, collected while on vacation in Holland two weeks ago; a 65 page brochure with the services of the NASM with full page photos of five of the ships in service in 1892. Purchase price 67 Euro, which was reasonable for this rare brochure in excellent condition. (Collection of T. Spits).

Starting next week, you will find a new section, called "meet the captains". This segment will give you a short bio of captains of the Holland America Line present and past with a foto if it is available. Should you take a cruise on one of the currently sailing vessels of the HAL, feel free to mention to your captain that you already "met" him on this site.
